Mangaluru, Aug 08, 2015:  Among the events planned during the ‘Aati Kuta’ to be held at Dr. Shivaram Karanth Pilikula Nisargadhama on Aug 9, Sunday. will be several traditional games and sport.  Several events will be held between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. at the Guttina Mane, the afternoon events will be held at the Urban Haat on the Nisargadhama premises.  Traditional  ‘Channe Mane’ ,  Durgaparameshwari Chinnara Mela troupe to stage a Yakshagana episode; Children can have their faces painted with organic colours and so on.

Those wanting to relish traditional food on plantain leaves at the Guttina Mane have to pay Rs. 250 in advance. A wide variety of traditional vegetarian dishes and those made of fish will be available at the stalls at the Urban Haat.

Talking media Aug 7,  Executive Director of the Nisargadhama S.A. Prabhakara Sharma said the event would begin with Yakshagana Talamaddale ‘Balarama Bhakti’ in which well known Bhagawata Puttige Raghuram Holla will participate. This will be followed by activities such as the tug-of-war, sowing paddy in the fields, Aati Kalinja dance, and folk songs.

Among the events being held at the Urban Haat are a philately and old coins exhibition. Mansoor Bolar from the District Philatelists Association said they will be displaying stamps on the theme ‘Flora and Fauna’. The coins to be displayed would be those related to freedom struggle.

The other prominent events will be a magic show by Vishak Rao and students of Gopadkar. District Kannada Sahitya Parishad president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura said that in the competition on singing Tulu folk songs, participants have to sing songs that have been documented by writer Vivek Rai.

Sharma said popular snacks during the Aati season such as Tekkade Adya, Halasina Gatti, Akki Pundi, Patrode and Kadale Pedangi will be available at the Guttinamane and at the Urban Haat. There will be a stall of Karnataka Fisheries Development Corporation dishing out various fish delicacies, he said.

DK DC Adoor.B. Ibrahim said the event would be inaugurated by Principal Secretary Bharatlal Meena,   in the next few days the Nisargadhama will be releasing the list of events to be held for the whole year.  The  events at Nisargadhama will make up part of the tourist calendar.
