Mangalore, June 03: A district crime intelligence bureau (DCIB) team arrested Ummer Farooq, the chief accused in a conspiracy to murder 2 advocates in Mangalore. The conspiracy, which was uncovered a few weeks back, had led to the arrest of four men and the confiscation of weapons, vehicles, and cash.
At the beginning of May, police arrested four people, who were accused of conspiring to murder of advocates Shantiprasad Hegde and Jagadish Shenava. The four arrested were Mohammed Iqbal, Sanoor Illyas, Ahmed Altaf, and Vamanjoor Naushad. Reportedly, the conspirators wanted to avenge the death of advocate Naushad Kashimji last year.
Farooq was arrested at a training centre situated in Green Valley at Mallapuram in Kerala on June 2, Wednesday. Police learned that Farooq had taken shelter at a training centre organized by two organizations at Green Valley. The local people had strongly objected to the establishment of these training centres. The Kerala police exhibited hesitation to visit the training centres initially, but the Mangalore police went right ahead and arrested Farooq.
