Mangaluru, July 17, 2015 : According to reports, an agency, which had been entrusted with the work of filling cash/currency notes in ATMs of State Bank of India, has accused its local manager and 18 employees of causing a loss estimated at Rs. 4.14 crore by not remitting the complete mount in the ATMs in the district.
A complaint field by a representative of ’Castech’ with the Mangaluru South Police, said the agency had been entrusted with the work of remitting cash in 48 SBI ATMs since 2012. A few days ago, the bank decided to hand over the task to a different agency. An audit of cash remitted showed shortage of Rs. 4.14 crore from 19 ATMs.
This is said to be only the tip of the iceberg which is bound to be a big hoax. Bank officials too have been complacent and fraud has been going on for long. Only a thorough audit and investigation will reveal the facts.
