Shivaogga, Nov 21, 2014 The Agumbe ghat section road in Shivamogga district, connecting Dakshina Kannada/Mangaluru with other parts of the state, will be improved and upgraded at a cost of Rs 10 crore.
The public works department has taken up work to improve state highways ravaged by the monsoon. Superintendent engineer stated that repair works began on December 20, and will be taken up on priority by his department.
In this regard the entire stretch of the highway will be closed for all vehicular traffic for three months.
Guard walls will be built at two places which have sharp hairpin curves, to avoid accidents. Vehicle operators will have to utilize alternative routes during this period.
People travelling from Mangaluru to Shivamogga should take the Moodbidri, Karkala, Sringeri, Thirthahalli route. The second route would run via Kundapur, Siddapur, Mastikatte, Thirthahalli and Shivamogga. The road will see all hurdles made good.
