Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Nov 17, 2012: A group of people, alleged to be cattle thieves, threw stones at Ayyappa Mandir in Ontikatte and threatened devotees early in the morning of Friday.

The group arrived in a Tata Sumo at 3:00 a.m. and tried to steal cows tied in the premises of the temple. Guruswamy Prashanth Anchan, a devotee, came out to investigate and saw two of them trying to steal cows. However, the men ran away when he raised an alarm.

However, the same group returned after some time to pelt stones at the temple. One of them even frightened devotees with a dangerous weapon and then ran away from the scene.

Prashanth Anchan has lodged a complaint at the local police station. A few Hindutva activists organized a protest in front of the police station today, demanding that the miscreants must be caught and punished.
