Alva’s Varna Virasat-2013 inaugurated

Moodbidri, Jan 5,2013: Alva’s Varna Virasat-2013, a six day long national art camp, was inaugurated at Shobhavana Mijar on January 4, Friday by Lekshmi M Kumaran, DGM of MRPL. The camp has been organised by the Alva’s Education Foundation.

Speaking on the occasion,  Lekshmi Kumaran said  civilization has progressed along with various forms of art. She also congratulated Alva’s Education Foundation for organizing this distinct camp aimed at promoting art and taking it to greater heights.

Presiding over the function, Dr M Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation said art and culture can flourish when every individual and organization develop a sense of cultural awareness.
Rajkumar, President of Bahrain Kannada Sangha, was the chief guest. Ganesh Somayaji, Member of the Varna Virasat Advisory Committee and others were present.

Around 22 artistes from several States, including Gujarat, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab are participating in the camp. The Alva’s Varna Virasat award will be conferred on senior artist from Mumbai Devdas R Shetty, at the valedictory of the camp.
