Moodabidri, Jan 06, 2017: It is interesting to note that on the eve of Alva’s Virasat, the Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodabidri, will organise ‘Alva’s Shilpa Virasat’ and ‘Alva’s Varna Virasat’ from January 6 and 11, respectively. The Shilpa Virasat will be inaugurated Jan 6, today by renowned sculptor Ramamurthy at 10.30 a.m. in Alva’s Nudisiri Vedike, Vidyagiri.
Artists from the Bastar tribal community of Chhattisgarh will prepare bronze masks of gods and display attractive idols. Ten sculptors from different parts of the country will prepare wooden idols of Tulu folklore heroes like Koti Chennaiah and others.
The Varna Virasat will be inaugurated at 10.30a.m. on January 11 by Anupama Hegde, the Joint Managing Trustee of Gurukula Public School, Kundapura, at Alva’s Ayurveda Seminar Hall.
Alva’s Varna Virast will have artists from Maharashtra, Odisha, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Tripura, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, with each artist contributing two drawings. Neelesh D. Bharthi, Ramesh Haripach Pande, Sagarbandru Ami Patel, Devdas Shetty from Mumbai, Sangram Kumar Maanji from Odhisha, Shrijapallam, Druvaraj N.V, Smitha Vijayan, Vijay Kumar from Kerla, Ravindho Das from Tripura, Kishor Narkhandiwala from Gujarat, Nirmala Baluka and Palak Dhube from Hyderabad, Kannan, Gangatharan from Tamil Nadu, Sacchidananda, Ganpathi Hegde and Kantharaju from Karnataka will participate.The valedictory function will be attended by Lalit Kala Akademi Administrator Chi. Su. Krishna Setty and others. Alva’s Varna Virasat-2017 award will be presented to Reva Shankar Sharma, a traditional artist from Rajasthan. Indeed this is looked upon as a educative preamble.
