Amendments made to revised Master Plan: Mayor Rajani Dugganna

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, June 08: A government gazette notification reveals amendments made to the zonal regulations of the second revision of the Master Plan for the development of Mangalore, said Mayor Rajani Dugganna at a press conference held on Monday.

Informing press people that the notification has been published in the June 1 issue of the Gazette, she said that people are free to file objections or suggestions within 30 days. She added that the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) received a copy of the notification on Monday. People can address their suggestions or objections to the Secretary, Department of Urban Development, Vikasa Soudha, Bangalore 560001, she said.

The Mangalore Urban Development’s (MUDA) master plan received the government nod on September 10, 2009. But some of its provisions were objected to on grounds that they prevented people owning small sites from constructing houses. District-in-charge Minister J. Krishna Palemar convened a meeting to suggest amendments. The revised plan was duly sent by MUDA for government approval.

The mayor assured people that the MCC was fully prepared to tackle artificial floods these monsoons. Five workers per ward have been appointed to clean the storm-water drains, she said.
