Angry locals on rampage over student death at Manjeshwar

Mangaluru, March 20, 2016: AS per reports, the check post and a few vehicles had to bear rampage by hundreds of angry locals who vandalized them as a mark of protest against accidents and traffic snarls at Manjeshwar.

The death of a bike rider, Mohammad Shahban(22) after colliding against a truck carrying fish near the check post lead to violent incidents.  Protesters overturned two jeeps of the Excise and Commercial Taxes departments and also damaged the cars of Superintendant of Police A Srinivas and Manjeshawaram Sub-Inspector of Police C Pramod. They also smashed the glass panes of five KSRTC buses. The locals were complaining about the unscientific parking of cargo vehicles in and around the check post due to which as many as ten accidents had taken place in the locality.  250 people were booked by police in connection with incident.
