Areca worth Rs 5 crore from warehouse stolen

Mangaluru, Sep 12, 2016: It is reported that thieves broke into a warehouse and stole areca worth Rs 5 crore at Alankar on Sept 9, Friday night; however, the theft came to light only later.  The incident was reported at a warehouse belonging to MA Supari Traders, owned by MA Abdul Kunhi. 25 gunny bags of areca weighing 65 kg each was stolen. The areca belonged to Ramanna Gowda who had brought it for sale to Campco, but as it was not sold, he stored it at the warehouse.

The Kadaba and Uppinangady police visited the spot along with a canine squad. The police are investigating the CCTV footage from Alankar town and Kunthur.  A case has been registered at Kadaba police station.
