Art camp Naadha Kalaanudi held in city

Mangalore, Oct 8, 2012 : K. R. Ramakrishna, commissioner of the Kannada and Culture Department, inaugurated an art camp Naadha Kalaanudi at Sahodaya on Oct 6, Saturday. Senior artist K. Pundalik Shenoy was honored on this occasion.

The department of archeology and museums, the department of Kannada and Culture, and the Karavali Chitrakala Chawadi organized this art camp, which was presided over by Koti Prasad Alva, president of Karavali Chitrakala Chawadi.

Around 34 artists took part in this camp and created works of art based on the culture of Karavali. Among the artists present were Sapna Noronha and Dinesh Holla.

Among the most impressive works of art created on the occasion was Veena Shrinivas’ Kavi Kala painting, which depicted the excitement of playing Chenne Mane; Narayan Erekal’s Warli painting depicting Dhundi Kunitha; and others. The artists had depicted scenes such as Huli Vesha, Kambla, and Yakshagana.

Nemiraj Shetty, art critic and curator of Hastha Gallery Projects in Bangalore, spoke on the topic “Artwork and How it Evolved since Time.”
