Udupi, Oct 5, 2013: From snow clad mountains to evergreen forests, from Kashmir’s valleys to Kerala’s coasts, nature’s bounty framed in canvas and expressed through delicate strokes of artist Sangeeta Milind Shah of Baramathi, Pune, captured vivid colours of nature, with all its profundity.

An art exhibition ‘In harmony with nature,’ featuring as many as 37 paintings by Sangeetha was inaugurated at Prasad Art Gallery in Ballal Bagh on Friday.

Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Tulasi Maddineni inaugurated the exhibition and said that the paintings were as real as photographs and showed the deep inclination of the artist towards nature.

“Art is an expression of human touch. No artist will be a real artist unless he is humane. Life is for those who are unconditionally positive. Reality and artist’s attitude does make difference in this perspective,” said senior art critic G R Krishna. Reviewing the art works, he said that Sangeetha’s art works, essentially being the expressions of nature, reflected her soul. “A real artist can visualise the universe through his inner eyes. Man is spoiling nature’s beauty owing to his greed. In this context, the exhibition has become relevant by sending a message that nature is precious,” he added.

Artist Sangeeta Milind Shah said that though she hails from Pune, she was inspired by the natural beauty of Mangalore in her childhood. She said she photographed the natural scenes whenever came down to Mangalore on tours, and later painted them.

‘Vicinity to heaven,’ ‘Konkan beauty,’ ‘The holy range,’ ‘Destination Kashmir,’ ‘Forest flame,’ ‘Blue snow,’ ‘Hanging clouds,’ ‘Mauritius scenario’ and ‘ The coastal flow’ were some of the pieces featured in the expo. Fine greetings made out of natural leaves and flowers, was another attraction of the expo. The exhibition will be held till October 6 from 10 am to 9 pm.

A J Medical College Vice Dean Dr P P Devan, artist and Karnataka Lalithkala Academy former member Ganesh Somayaji were present.
