B V Kakkilaya Inspired Oration today, October 11

Mangaluru, Oct 11,2016:  BV Kakkilaya Inspired Oration - 2016 on ’The Idea of India: The Vision and the Challenges’’ will be organised at Ravindra Kala Bhavan, University College on October 11 at 10am.

Aditya Mukherjee, professor of contemporary Indian history, Centre for Historical Studies and former dean, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi will deliver the oration that is organized by Hosatu Monthly, Bengaluru, M S Krishnan Trust, Bengaluru and Samadarshi Vedike, Mangaluru in association with department of PG studies in economics, University College, Mangaluru.

Aditya Mukherjee specializes in economic history, particularly business history and the political economy of post-colonial development. He is a member of the Indian Council for Historical Research since 2009 and was president of Indian History Congress for Modern India during 2007-08.

The oration will be held in memory of Kakkilaya, a freedom fighter, leader of Communist Party of India and All India Trade Union Congress.
