Mangalore, Aug 6, 2013: MLC Monappa Bhandary has said that the BJP has the satisfaction of doing justice to its role as opposition party in the recently concluded 15 day monsoon session of the State Assembly.
Speaking at the press meet held at District BJP office on August 6, Tuesday, he said that during the session, the BJP has filed its strong opposition to the amendment to the Panchayatraj Act that holds GP President and members responsible for not holding meetings. He also stated that the party was successful in uniting the GP members against the amendment to the Act.
Continuing, Bhandary alleged that there was a spurt in the cases of cattle theft, cattle slaughter and also the number of illegal abattoirs ever since the Congress government took charge. He said the BJP will hold district wide protests if the administration failed to put a brake to these activities.
MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, BJP District president Padmanabha Kottary, members Raj Gopal Rai and Pushpalatha Gatty were present.
