Mangaluru, Nov 12, 2015 : It is reported that BJP will question the government on its decision to go ahead with the Yettinahole Diversion Project in the Legislative Assembly and Council sessions beginning from November 16. BJP MLA from Sullia S. Angara will raise the issue in the Legislative Assembly, MLC Ganesh Karnik will raise it in the Legislative Council. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said hopefully other legislators of the region will support too.
Permission : Talking to media on Nov 11,Wednesday, MLC Karnik said he has already filed before the Deputy Chairman of Legislative Council application seeking permission to talk on the issue. “It might be scheduled any day,” MLC Karnik said, and added that a similar representation has been made by MLA Angara.
MP Kateel said the district BJP unit has decided to oppose the project that would not only dry up the Netravathi but also cause extensive damage to the Western Ghats.
They will be having a discussion with the activists who are protesting against the project for which State government has earmarked Rs. 13,000 crore. “I am ready to take a delegation of legislators to the Union government and place our objections to the project,” he said.
