Beltangady, May 27: Swami Ramdev, founder of the Patanjali Yogapeetha, which has its head offices in Uttarakhand, and a staunch exponent of the Yogic system of heathcare, urged people to join his “Bharat Swabhimaan Andolan,” a movement that aims at building a corruption-free nation. He was addressing the gathering after dedicating the newly constructed Rajatadri Guest House at Dharmasthala to the society on May 26, Wednesday.

Giving further details regarding the movement, he said that it seeks to purify the political, administrative, and legal system of India. Swami Ramdev feels that criminal activity can be curbed only when education, health, administrative, and judicial system are first cleansed of corruption. Speaking in favor of free and equal education and uniform legal system for all, he said that the laws formulated by the British rulers to crush Indians who rose in rebellion against them in the past have now become redundant. Pointing out that no country in the world has two names, he urged people to call their nation “Bharat” only. 

Explaining how circulation of high-denomination currency notes leads to corruption and the use of black money, he pointed out that countries such as England and Canada do not have high-denomination currency notes. He spoke in appreciation of Dr. Heggade’s system of temple administration to obtain the people’s trust and called for freeing temples from the control of the government. He also called upon the people of the nation to strive to make their country the world’s number one in commerce, power, education, and heath care. 

Home Minister Dr. V. S. Acharya released a CD, “Shri Dharmasthala Kshethra Mahatme,” and said that the chief minister plans to spread yoga in schools all over the country, adding that 2,500 teachers have already received Yoga training. 

Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade lamented in his presidential address that modern students no longer respect their teachers as the disciples of the past did. He expressed a wish that Baba Ramdev’s disciples achieve success in cleansing the country of the all the evils of corruption. 

District-in-charge Minister Krishna J. Palemar, MLA Vasanth Bangera, Anand Sankeshwar of VRL Logistics, State President of Patanjali Yoga Sangha Pradeep G. and many others were present. Dr. Harshendra Kumar gave the welcome speech. Journalist Navujire conducted the programme. Harish Pai proposed the vote of thanks. All those who had a role to play in the construction of the guest house were felicitated. 

Baba Ramdev was warmly welcomed on his arrival at Mangalore Airport on Wednesday. He then participated in a number of programmes in DK. Dr. Jnaneshwar Nayak, the district president of Bharath Swabhiman Andolan and Patanjali Yoga Samithi; P. P. Hegde, the honorary president; Rashekhar Ballal; Harish Pai; and others were also present.
