Bantwal : Autorickshaw driver brutally assaulted by gang of 4

Bantwal, May 25, 2013 : An autorickshaw driver who identifies himself with the Congress party was brutally attacked by a gang of four assailants on May 23, Thursday.

The injured driver Adam Palla(33), has been hospitalized. As per a complaint lodged, the victim has blamed SDPI activists for the attack.

According to him a youth had hired the auto in the morning saying he had to go to Brahmarakootlu. It is said as the autorickshaw reached a deserted area, the youth abandoned the auto which was soon waylaid by a car with four assailants throwing chilly powder on him and attacking him with iron rods.

As per the complaint by Adam, a clash that ensued during the recent Assembly elections between SDPI and Congress activists might have culminated in the attack on him.

Adam who has sustained serious injuries on his arm, back and groin has been admitted to a private hospital in Mangalore.
