Udupi, December 3: Pranesh (40) of Bannanje in Udupi married Gabralia (51) of Berlin, Germany, as per Vedic rites at Udupi Raghavendra Mutt.
Pranesh who earns his livelihood as a tourist guide in Udupi first met Gabralia, a hotelier in Berlin and a divorcee, when she visited Udupi in 2005. Since Pranesh spoke French and English fluently, they became friends and later fell in love. When they met, Gabralia spoke only German. But the two conversed in the “language of the heart.” Initially, he rejected her proposal for marriage. But she continued visiting Udupi; and finally in 2007, Pranesh introduced her to his family members. The couple decided to get married in June.
Since they were asked to register their marriage first before getting married as per the Hindu traditions, they had a registered marriage at the Sub Registrar’s office.
Pranesh’s mother and sister are happy about the union. They say that they want him to be happy. Pranesh has decided to be in Berlin for 6 months and in Udupi for 6 months.
