Bhatkal : Acid attack on man by neighbouring woman

Bhatkal, July 17, 2013: A dispute between two neighbouring families culminated in an acid attack on a man by a woman   at  Uttarakoppa in Bhatkal on July 15, Monday night.

The seriously injured man named Benny Joseph (38) has been admitted to Manipal Hospital after initial treatment in hospitals at Murdeshwar and Kundapur. The accused is Jessy Conical.

It is learnt, the Benny and Jessy families  had a land dispute since long. Matters aggravated when Benny’s dog ate eggs from the shop  of Jessy. It is learnt, an agitated Jessy had killed the dog by poisoning the dog.

This made matters worse and led to a tiff between Jessy and Benny’s wife. On Monday when Benny was  walking on the lane towards his house in a drunken state,  Jessy saw him and taking advantage of the power cut threw acid on his face while another man held Benny firmly  from behind.

Benny’s face and neck are completely burnt in the acid  attack.

Murdeshwar police are investigating the case.
