Bishop blesses belfry of Eliyarpadavu Church

Mangalore, May 12: Holy Cross Church of Eliyarpadavu organized its decennial celebrations, during which the belfry was blessed, on May 11, Tuesday. 

Rev. Fr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangalore diocese, inaugurated the belfry and blessed it. A solemn thanksgiving mass followed in which Fr. Andrew D’Souza and other priests of the Varado concelebrated. 

The bishop also presided over the formal stage programme, which followed the mass. Fr. Andrew D’Souza, the vicar-vara of the City South Deanery, was the chief guest. Fr. Victor Gerald D’Souza, the parish priest of Panir, was the guest of honour. 

Edward D’Souza, the vice president of the parish pastoral council, gave the welcome speech. Cynthia Menezes, the secretary of the parish pastoral council, presented the decennial report. Those who had actively worked for the welfare of the parish were honored with mementos. 

Fr. Andrew D’Souza released “Kursa Savlenth,” a decennial souvenir to commemorate the occasion. Fr. Reginald Pinto, the parish priest of the Eliyarpadavu church, expressed gratitude. A delicious meal, prepared by the parishioners, was then served.
