Mangalore, April 1: Bishop of Mangalore Diocese, Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, inaugurated the recently renovated Lady of Loretto Church in Bantwal on April 30, Friday. Entrepreneurs Alex Menezes and Irene Menezes arrived from Belgium to inaugurate the welcome arch of the church.
The bishop concelebrated the Eucharistic Mass with Fr Cyprian Pinto, the parish priest of Loreto, and other clergy from all over the diocese.
The bishop also presided over a felicitation programme organized in the auditorium of the church. He felicitated all the priests who had served the parish as well as the present priest, Fr. Cyprian Pinto. He also honored Alex Menezes and Irene Menezes as well as Walter Noronha, the president of the 70th celebration committee of Loreto parish. Irene Menezes handed over the keys of two houses donated by the St Vincent de Paul Society of Loretto on this occasion.
Sr Lenita D’Souza, the provincial superior of the Ursuline Franciscan order, released “Turbent,” the parish bulletin. Fr. Rocky D’Sa, the deanery vicar and parish priest of Infant Jesus, Modankap, and Dolphy Prashanth D’Souza, the local social activists, honored the donors.
President of DK Zilla Panchayat Santhosh Kumar Bhandary was present on the dais. Fr. Cyprian, the parish priest of Loretto, made the welcome speech. Joe Coelho, the vice president of the Loretto parish council, proposed the vote of thanks. Mary Pinto and Roshan Pinto compered the programme.
