Borewells drilling ban lifted in DK and Udupi partly

Mangaluru, Feb 12, 2017: The State government has lifted the ban on drilling new borewells by private parties in four taluks of Dakshina Kannada and three taluks of Udupi district.

Accordingly, now the drilling of new borewells are allowed in Bantwal, Belthangady, Mangaluru and Sullia taluks in Dakshina Kannada and Karkala, Kundapur and Udupi taluks of Udupi district.

The government issued an order banning borewell drilling on February 1, 2017. Earlier, it had imposed the ban on August 20, 2016, an official release said. These taluks were among the 65 in the State allowed to drill new borewells by private parties.
