Bunts hostel residents upset over unilateral road closure - a non-starter

Mangaluru, Nov 5, 2014:  Residents and owners of businesses on the stretch between the Bunts Hostel Cricle and Ambedkar Junction say they had not received any details of the proposed widening and concreting of the road. It came out of the blue as a  surprise over the hasty way in which this work has been taken up according to a representative of Hotel Woodlands a busy hotel located on the spot.  This was also echos by several in the area.

The contractor could not execute work on one half of the road while  traffic moved on the other half. The contractor wanted to start the work between Bunts Hostel and Hotel Woodlands. The work is expected to be finished in two months.  Not withstanding the announcement the normal two-way movement of traffic was allowed on the Bunts Hostel and Ambedkar Circle road stretch on November 4, Tuesday.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Uday Nayak, who said the police were prepared with signages regarding traffic diversions. But, we are as yet not aware of the actual position of the works.
