Mangalore, June 03: CET-topper Akshay M. Pattabhi of St. Aloysius PU College has also secured the 45th position in Karnataka in AIEEE. 


Akshay wants to get into NIT-K Suratkal and do a course in Mechanical or E&C Engineering and then go in for post graduation before doing his doctoral and post doctoral studies in basic sciences. He is currently examining areas such as converging technologies, which is unusual for a youngster like him. 


Akshay’s state rank of 45 and national rank of 2133 in AIEEE enables him to secure a seat in any of the NITs in the country. He has already secured a seat in the Indian Institute of Science, Education, and Research in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. 


Akshay also wants to conduct research in subjects such as converging knowledge bases and technologies, said his father Dr. Manjunath Pattabhi. Akshay’s parents are PhD holders in basic sciences. Akshay says that he wants to be the third PhD holder in his family and do something unique in life. 


Prof. John D’Silva of St Aloysius PU College says that Akshay is a meticulous student. Akshay has passed the KVPY (Kishore Vigyan Prothsahan Yojana) of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, conducted by the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore, which will get him a scholarship of Rs 5,000 - 7,000 till he finishes masters if he opts to take up science. This qualification also got him a seat at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) at Trivandrum.
