Mangalore, Apr 9: The Campus Front of India (CFI), a wing of the Popular Front of India (PFI), launched a protest on Friday demanding that Muslim girl students should be allowed to wear burkhas in schools and colleges.
The activists said that one of the communities of Mangalore had several organizations, which were attacking the custom of wearing burkha. Bringing attention to the fact that the constitution of India upholds secularism, the protestors argued that the practice of wearing burkha must not be opposed. Those who are doing it are going against the constitution, they said.
Later, they submitted a memorandum to the DC, urging the government to send memorandums to all schools and colleges permitting Muslim girl students to wear burkhas.
