MANGALORE, July 10, 2014:  Addressing a protest rally in front of Central Market, CITU State Committee Secretary Harish Nayak said  the Jagruthi Jatha, initiated by CITU, reached Mangalore July 8. The rally had started on July 6 at Karwar. It is aimed to create awareness among workers on labourer’s rights.

He alleged that the NDA lead Central government is following anti-labour policies and said that the CITU will oppose the rocketing living costs.  Referring to the ‘acche din’ slogan by BJP, he said that good days are coming only for industrialists and the rich and not for common people. He said Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) should not be allowed in defense and railways as it would put the security of the nation to risk. Efforts are being made to bring amendments to labour laws which are not in for the good of the working class. These amendments will be detrimental to labourers, Nayak said.

He meanwhile condemned the shoot out of farmers in Kudagi  the state government was held responsible for the injustice. The Jagruthi Jatha will conclude on July 14 in Bellary. CITU district leader Vasanth Achary among others is part of this protest and demand for the workers.
