Udupi: Further to the report July 13, the two children missing from their house were traced by the police, who handed them to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) following their reluctance to return home.
The children aged 13 and 9 had left home July 12, as they unable to bear the routine torture from their parents. A missing complaint was filed by the duo’s mother Lalitha Hanumantha in Manipal police station. They are the native of Ginigere village in Koppala and currently the residents of Sannakkibettu in Herga in Parkala. Hanumantha works as a tipper lorry driver.
The police also approached Child Protection Unit (CPU). However both kids were too reluctant to return back to their house.
Manipal PSI Girish told that the children were handed over to CWC and CWC has handed the children to the parents after counseling the parents. CWC president D K Narayan said the children were produced in the special sitting by the police. They are at present handed to the parents through the interim order and the parents have been directed to produce the children in the regular sitting July 17. The CWC decision was based on the legal bond of the children and parents. Although they were reluctant they agreed to go with their parents on seeing them. Both parents’ and children need counselling and CWC would work on it. The children are also given child helpline number and CWC contact number in case of any emergency. The parents have promised that they would not henceforth torture the kids.
