Apr 09, 2016: Mangalore University Blood Donors Group (MUBDG) as a part of Communication Club, Department of MCJ in association with PG Students’ Council, Mangalagangothri, and Indian Red Cross Society, Mangaluru, conducted its fourth blood donation camp, at University Health Centre, Mangalagangothri.
Dr Sushil Jathanna, Indian Red Cross Society DK unit vice chairman, inaugurated the camp.
He said that an online blood donation campaign will be launched by the Red Cross Society of India, and Mangaluru, will soon launch a helpline for getting blood.
"A healthy individual can donate blood once in three months. One unit of blood can also save three persons. There is a demand for blood every two seconds. People should wipe out all kinds of misconceptions about donating blood. There is an urgent need for blood and organ donation in particular ," he said.
Mangalore University Registrar Prof T D Kemparaju, MUBDG Coordinator Prof G P Shivaram were present. More than 100 students participated in the camp and 83 blood units were collected.
