Mangaluru, Nov 17, 2015 : In an informal meet with media,   Rakesh Sharma, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, on Nov 16, said Canara Bank plans to open 250 branches across the country in 2015-16,

He said the bank, which opened 1,000 branches in 2014-15, has 5,734 branches and 1,932 ATMs in the country. He said the process of recruiting around 3,000 clerical staff, will be completed by March 2016. MD  Sharma said the bank has set a target of bringing its gross NPA (non-performing assets) below four per cent by the end of the current financial year.
