Mangaluru, July 9,2015 :  People should be glad that the central library, at Bavuta Gudde, Lighthouse Hill has been modernized a great deal now and will enthuse the young and not so young.

Deputy Director of City Central Library, Raghavendra K.V.  stated that the updated facilities has given a new feel and led to more frequent number of visitors to this  library which a good omen. 

The newly added  children’s play area is among the new features at the renovated library that was inaugurated in a few months ago.  It also has an internet browsing centre and a separate section with books for preparation for UPSE, IIT and other competitive examinations.

The competition section has been strengthened with new collections and study material. The books and study material help students prepare from basics.  There were no charges fixed for the use of the books in the library. At the internet browsing centre, which bars access to social networking sites, the charge is Rs. 10 per hour. As many as six computers are avilable.

This library, is adjoining the St. Aloysius College, was established in 1969. It was renovated using the library cess by the Mangaluru City Corporation. An additional floor has been added to the building to exclusively feature books classified into literature, science and environment. The  additional floor has helped  display the rich resources like the biographies.
