Charity musical shows for ’Vishwasada Mane’

Mangaluru, June 04, 2016: Addressing a gathering on June 3, Friday, Sunil John D’Souza, president of the Divine Generation Ministries Bethel Church Trust, informed media that Musical night programmes,  ‘Humanitas 2016’ will be held in Udupi and Mangaluru this weekend to raise funds for the construction of the second floor of the Vishwasada Mane Rehabilitation Centre for Mentally-Challenged and Homeless Persons at Shankarpura in Udupi district.

The trust, which runs the rehabilitation Centre, said that the construction of the second floor would require at least Rs. 50 lakh. Presently, the organisation had managed to collect only Rs. 3 lakh.  The charity shows were expected to help collect donations from the people.  The shows would be open to all. The musical night in Mangaluru would be held at Milagres Hall on June 4 and at the Ammani Ramanna Sabha Bhavan in Udupi on June 5. Both the shows would start at 6.30 p.m.

Faith – Goa’s leading band — would participate in both the charity shows. Naveen Kumar, flautist and Jasper Joseph, keyboard player would perform.

The Vishwasada Mane Centre was established at Shankarpura about 17 years ago.   During this period, the Centre had rescued over 620 persons (both men and women) wandering on the streets in different places in disheveled condition in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district and provided them with proper medical assistance, free food and dress.

After their recovery which ranged for a few months to years, they were reunited with their families. The Centre, mostly, bore the cost of reuniting these persons who were from different districts and states with their family members.
