Children’s Konkani summer camp inaugurated at Kalaangan

Mangalore, April 25;  Mr. Francis Fernandes, the highly acclaimed theatre artist of Cascia, inaugurated a 9-day residential camp for children “Phulondith Konkani Thalentham” organized by Mandd Sobhann at Kalaangan on April 24, Saturday. He called upon the kids to love their mother tongue and to utilize all opportunities to showcase their talents. 

Mr. Fernandes also felicitated the trainers. Eric Ozerio, the gurkar of Mandd Sobhann, provided brief information regarding the camp. He said that 44 children have been chosen to participate in this camp and that they will be taught Konkani language, songs, drama, and dance. The valedictory programme will be held on May 2, 2010 at Kalaangan. Mandd Sobhann has been organizing children’s summer camps for the past 12 years.  

Louis Pinto, the president of Mandd Sobhann; Rony Crasta, the secretary; and Stany Alvares, the coordinator were the dignitaries on the dais.
