Mangalore, June 02: The citizen’s rifle training programme, which was organized under the auspices of the police rifle training unit at the district armed reserve police rifle range, was a roaring success. R. Ramesh, the Mangalore Police Deputy Commissioner, selected 30 citizens to participate in the rifle training.
Speaking about the importance of rifle training for citizens, he said that citizens must be aware of the responsibilities of a person holding the gun. He expressed his satisfaction regarding the enthusiasm of the participants and the high attendance level. The participants have already got a good aim and some of them are coming nearer to the bull’s eye in target practice, he said.
The participants represent various sections of society; and the rifle training includes target practice as well as training in automatic pistols and revolvers for a few chosen participants.
