Mangalore, June 24, 2013 : A delegation of Railway Development Committee led by its Convenor PV Mohan met Union Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge at his residence recently and submitted a memorandum urging him to set up a separate railway division headquartered in Mangalore.
The delegation submitted the memorandum in the presence of Oscar Fernandes, Union Minister for Roads and Highways. It pointed out that the absence of a separate railway division has come in the way of the progress of the coastal region. Pointing out that the region had been neglected by earlier railway ministers, the delegation reminded the new minister that a separate railway division has been a longstanding demand. It also urged the minister to provide rail connectivity between Mangalore and other places like Hubli, Shimoga and Gulbarga.
The delegation further made a request to the minister to expedite the Mangalore-Bangalore-via Shravanabelagola railway line and also to undertake a survey for a railway line to Shimoga via Kundapur.
Others in the delegation were Moidin Bava, Mangalore North MLA and P raven Bangera, Member of KCCI.

Mangalore station is under Phalghat Division of Southern Railway. The arrogance of Sr. DCM, is clearly visible that, they have instructed all the station of their division to refuse change of ’Boarding fecility’ to Mangaloer station to tickets of other station of Kerala destination.
