Aug 10, 2016: It is reported that Swamy Vivekananda Study Peetha of Mysuru University visiting faculty Dr Raghavendra Pai of Karkala stated that there is a rise in interest in Yoga among the people, and we need a book with comprehensive information on Yoga.
He said, "Work on an encyclopedia on Yoga is underway," and added, in an interaction at Sharada Vidyalaya. The book will be published within two years. The first volume will be published by Sri Vedavyasa Yoga Prathishtana and should be released within 18 months.
There are books on yoga compiled by foreign writers. There are many dictionaries dedicated to yogic science. However, ’Yoga Vishwakosha’ will be the first book to focus on all aspects of yoga including 121 asanas, soorya namaskara and mudras," he said.
Pai has taken part in yoga sessions in countries like Russia, Singapore, America and Qatar in the last 28 years. He recently visited Vietnam on invitation of the Consul General. He has been awarded the ’Vietnam Book of Records Certificate’ for setting two records as an instructor- ’Yoga exercise with the most Soorya Namaskara rounds (1008)’ and ’Longest Yoga Marathon with Soorya Namaskara’ in May, 2016. He was conferred WorldKings World Records Union India-USA Certificate, for instructing 15 members to successfully perform 7,777 rounds of Soorya Namaskara, with 77,770 different yoga postures in 60 hours, six minutes and six seconds in June 2016.
