Concern over unprecedented power cuts

Concern over unprecedented power cuts

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, Sep 9, 2015 : CPMTA - Canara Plastic Manufacturers and Traders Association expressed shock over unprecedented load shedding and frequent power cut imposed.  President, CPMTA stated in Baikampady industrial area there are many processing industries like plastic, rubber, chemical and marine exports who need fair continuous power supply.

Load shedding causes material loss, production loss besides damages to the machinery. Many of the industries have export as well as supply commitments which fail. The interrupted  power supply has already invaded the bottom line of many industries, as in some cases due to  power supply at nights lacking, workers are refusing to attend second or third shift work, and all these have ill effect on the very existence and viability of industry.

The power interruptions will discourage investors to invest in the state.  The state government must purchase power from other states or through online trading to cater to the needs of the industries in the state as well as other categories of consumers.
