Congress office staff vents ire over denial of ticket to daughter

Mangalore, Feb 24, 2013: If former mayor Ashraf had recently created a ruckus at a press meet convened by senior leader B Janardhan Poojari, on finding that his name was missing from the list of members of election committee, on February 23, Saturday, a similar incident took place when party leaders released the list of candidates. The only difference was that this time it was not Ashraf, but the very office assistant of the District Congress Office.

The woman named Rajeevi was furious on realizing that her daughter was not given a ticket. She cursed the leaders present there and was in no position to hear their explanation. She also alleged that instead of her daughter, a relative of Congress leader PV Mohan was given the ticket. She further said   despite her serving as a sincere Congress worker and a Seva Dal member since 40 years, her daughter’s application was rejected.

Senior leader Vijaykumar Shetty tried to pacify her stating disappointments were common when of the 210 applications for tickets only 60 were selected that too on the basis of certain yardsticks.

Party leaders Kodijal Ibrahim, Ivan D’Souza and Kripa Alva were also present when all this drama took place.
