Couple accused of launching acid attack on neighbors

Beltangady, April 22: A couple belonging to Kundadka of Kaukrady near Nelyady allegedly threw acid at their neighbors on April 21, Wednesday. 

The victims are Zohara (40), the wife of Isubu; Zohara’s sister Mariamma (55); Hafifa (2); and Hafulachi (5). The injured filed a complaint at the police station that P J Thomas and his wife, Sini Thomas, entered their house through the back door on the afternoon of Wednesday and threw acid at them. 

The two families have been engaged in a property feud since nearly 10 years. Isubu had already filed a complaint with the district superintendent of police regarding the matter. 

Zohara and Mariamma, who sustained serious injuries, were admitted into Wenlock Hospital. The children escaped with minor injuries. The couple accused of launching the acid attack also got admitted into a private hospital in Puttur alleging that around 20 people attacked them. 

The police have already registered complaints against both parties.
