DC directs officials to register 100 pc progress under Suvarna Arogya Chaitanya Scheme

Mangalore, July 9, 2013 :  Deputy Commissioner N Prakash has directed the officers of the Departments of Health and  Education to  achieve 100 per cent progress under the  Suvarna Arogya Chaitanya Scheme, an ambitious programme of the Karnataka Government wherein it is mandatory to conduct health check-up of all government school students from class I to X.

Addressing a meeting held in this regard at his office on July 8, Monday, the DC said last year three lakh children had benefitted from the scheme while 20,000 more were not subject to medical examination.

Dr Rukmini, District RCH officer, said there is a hope that  this year all children will come under the scheme wherein children needing additional treatment would be provided the same in hi-tech hospitals.

Two additional doctors and nurses have been appointed  in all taluks for  the effective implementation of the project  and particulars have to be filled in the health cards to be issued to all children, Dr OR Srirangappa, District Health and Family Welfare  said.

The DC further instructed the officials to effectively implement the scheme of providing iron tablets to  girl students in the age of 10 to 17.
