Mangaluru, July 8,2017: Reports have come out that the  District Congress Committee (DCC) women’s wing president Shalet Pinto has announced the list of district women’s Congress office-bearers and Block Congress presidents.

All the members and Block Congress presidents should strive hard to inform the public on pro-people developments of the Congress-led state government. They should carry out a door-to-door campaign to make sure that everybody is well informed, she said.

Shalet said a booth-level committee will be formed to reach out to each individual. As the general election is nearing, the women’s wing should start preparation from now itself, she added.

"Congress has given power to all community people. This time also, we have taken everyone into consideration while forming the district committee and choosing block presidents," she stated.

Women’s Congress State vice president Sharada Gowda said that a road map for the next Legislative Assembly election has been formed by state president Laxmi Hebbalkar in which year long programmes have been scheduled.

"A committee will be formed in each Gram Panchayat to identify economically backward women, widows and others who are left behind. We will meet them personally and assure them that women’s Congress is there to console them. Various programmes such as religious tour, village stay have been scheduled for such women," she said.

Shalet said that women’s Congress has always protested against inflation, GST and other things. Women need to be united to bring Congress back to power, she said.

Zilla Panchayat member Mamatha Gatti, Standing Committee president Pratibha Kulai, corporator Appi and others were also present.

The new office-bearers are Shalet Pinto (president), Surekha Chandrahas, Bharati B M, Mariamma Thomas, Josphine D’Souza, Gulzar Banu, Shalini Salian, Anasooya B A, Sharada Urs, Kalavati Gowda and Sesamma (vice presidents), Shobha Keshav, Dhanalaxmi Bangera, Mamatha Shetty, Savitha T N, Sarala N Karkera and Tirumaleshwari (general secretaries and Nanda Pais (treasurer).
