DNA tests do not match - Families might have taken wrong bodies

Mangalore, May 27: Identification errors have greatly deepened the agony of the families of plane crash victims. DNA testing has to be used for the first time in India to identify the badly charred bodies of the victims. In spite of the efforts, DNA testing has not only failed, but chances are that families might have taken the wrong bodies, believing them to be the bodies of their loved ones.  

The Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) based in Hyderabad has confirmed the identities of 12 bodies. However, five or six of the remaining bodies are so badly charred that a DNA sample cannot be obtained for an analysis. DNA tests done on the others do not match with any of the people who have tried to claim the bodies.  

CDFD scientists have been conducting the DNA tests for the past two days.
