DYFI Tries to Save Wenlock

DYFI Tries to Save Wenlock

13 October 2009

The Dakshina Kannada District Committee of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) has arranged a meeting at the city’s Kandhaya Bhavan on Friday to discuss the imposition of user fees at Wenlock Hospital. Muneer Katipalla, the president of the committee, issued a press release, which states that the meeting is the result of the recent “Save Wenlock” agitation launched by the DYFI.

At the meeting, the DYFI will discuss ways of intensifying their campaign against the charging of user fees at the hospital. All like-minded people and organizations who oppose the charging of fees for medical services at Wenlock Hospital are invited to participate in the meeting. A plan of action will be decided upon according to the suggestions given by various individuals and organizations during the meeting.

The state government’s recent order to charge user fees for various medical services is part of a larger plan to privatize the medical sector and to entrust government health care facilities to private medical organizations.
