Mangalore, Aug 9, 2012 : The Mahatma Gandhi Shanthi Souhardha Vedike will organize a debate on Illegal Moral Policing and Indian Culture at Sahodaya Hall in Balmatta at 10:00 a.m. on August 11, Saturday.

Announcing the above at a press meet held at Press Club on Aug 9, President Vishwas Kumar Das said that Ravishankar Shetty, founder president of Mahatma Gandhi Shanthi – Souhardha Vedike, will inaugurate the debate. The chief guests will be Raghuram, the senior journalist, and Seemanth Kumar Singh, Mangalore police commissioner.

B. T. Lalitha Nayak, the author, and Prof. Ravivarma Kumar, former minster and Supreme Court lawyer, will talk on illegal moral policing. The attack on young people at Morning Mist Home Stay in the name of “protecting Indian culture” will be openly discussed, he added.

The vedike will also try to identify ways for people of different religions and castes to live in peace and harmony, he said.
