District administration to organize sky diving events to boost tourism

Mangalore, Sep 12, 2012 : The district administration will launch a 3-day event to observe World Tourism Day, starting September 27. The event will include sky diving and marathons.

The program was finalized during a meeting chaired by DC N. S. Channappa Gowda on September 10, Monday. Harish Kumar, commissioner of the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC); Ajith Kumar Hegde, commissioner of the Mangalore Urban Development Authority (MUDA); and Yathish Baikampady, CEO of Panambur Tourism Development Project, were also present.

It was Mr. Baikampady who suggested a sky diving event on Panambur beach. It will be conducted by a company based in New Delhi, and Cesna aircraft from an aviation academy based in Madhya Pradesh will be used for the event. The director general of civil aviation has already given his permission to use Mangalore Airport.

Finer details such as the distance of the marathon and others are yet to be finalized.
