Mangalore April 29: The district police have organized a rifle training programme for civilians with the purpose of encouraging civilians who are interested in helping the police nab criminals and bust rackets.
This one-week training programme will commence just before the monsoons, and the department has already called for applications. Those interested must purchase an application for Rs 250 and submit it before May 5. Men and women above the age of 18 are invited to apply. People with a criminal background are not eligible to receive this training. The applications can be obtained in Sub Inspector’s office at Mangalore, Panamboor, and Puttur.
The morning session is from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.; and the evening session is from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Trainees can choose a session according to their convenience.
The trainees will be taught to fire 30 rounds from a .22 rifle, ten each while standing, kneeling, and lying down. The trainers will also provide information and demonstration about the advanced weapons used in the police force.
