Mangalore, Nov 2, 2012: K. Doddakamaiah, who was the assistant superintendent of prisons in Tumkur, has taken over as the superintendent of the Mangalore Sub Jail on Nov 1, Thursday.
He is the winner of the Correctional Service Medal for Meritorious Service of 2006.
It may be recalled that warden Puttanna sustained an injury when he tried to stop a prisoners’ brawl. He got admitted into a hospital and lodged a complaint at the Barke police station, following which he was suspended from duties.
The previous superintendent P. S. Ambekar has been transferred to Hiriadka Jail, Udupi. According to the police, his transfer was surprising because he was transferred to Mangalore from Hiriadka just two years back.
Meanwhile, Shivakumar, chief of the Udupi Jail, has been transferred to KR Nagar.
