Mangaluru, Oct 24, 2015:  "Breakthrough", a human right organisation working on issues related to women, launched "Ring the Bel" ’ bell bajao’ mobile awareness campaign against domestic violence, in Mudushedde Gram Panchayat limits oct 23.

The mobile (on wheels)  show vehicle will visit Mangaluru, Belthangady, Bantwal and Sullia taluks educating people on ’Protection of Women against Domestic Violence Act 2005’, with street performances, games and other activities.  "Breakthrough" is working in two blocks covering five gram panchayats each in Mangaluru and Bantwal.

Breakthrough State Manager Kanmani said, the expedition aims at motivating men and teenagers to raise voice against cases of domestic violence . People must to join and ’ring the bell’ and check domestic violence, whenever they come across cases of violence against women, he explained. The issue of domestic violence is not just personal today but has become a social issue. Men should come forward and help achieve women empowerment. Women should not only identify their rights but should assert them. It is not a fight between men and women but a fight against social evil. People should come together and end the difference between men and women.

The campaign van will visit 20 gram panchayats till November 1. Mudushedde Gram Panchayat president Hariprasad Shetty said, it is the duty of every citizen to ensure that nobody in the society comes across discrimination. "As this fight cannot be fought alone, we all should come together and join ’Ring The Bell’ expedition," he appealed.

CDPO Usman inaugurated the campaign.  Implementing officer, District Women and Child Development Department, Natraj, Mudushedde Gram Panchayat, vice president, Shambhavi and Panchayat Development Officer, Susheela were present.
