Mangalore, July 2, 2012: Dr. B. Devdas Rai, professor of medicine at AJ Institute of Health Sciences, took over as the district governor of Rotary International District 3180. Rotarian H. L. Ravi, previous district governor, handed over the post to Dr. B. Devdas Rai at a special ceremony held at St. Sebastian Hall in Bendore on June 30.

The chief guest of the occasion was Rotarian P. T. Prabhakar, Rotary International director elect and an industrialist based in Chennai. Speaking on the occasion, he said that Rotary bears the credit of eradicating polio from India. He also released the Rotary Members Directory, compiled by Rotarian M. V. Mallya.

Prof. Shantharam Shetty, vice chancellor of Nitte University, delivered the felicitation address.

Rotarian Dr. Devadas Rai, the new district governor, promised that he would do his best for Rotary International. He also launched a number of Rotary District projects such as Parent – Student Insurance Scheme, School Support Scheme, Integrated Community Development Programs, Jeeva Sanjivini Scheme, and others.

Prominent Rotarians such as Soorya Prakash Bhat, Dr. Supriya Devdas Rai, Gururaj, Dr. Bhaskar, and others were also present.
