Mangaluru, Nov 9, 2014: Speaking to media reporters at his office on November 8, Saturday  MLC Ivan D’Souza among other matters stated  that needed efforts are in place to get a separate examination admin  centre at Mangalore University. He stated that  the present system where the university without an examination centre for valuation of answer papers of degree exams,  evaluates the answer papers at the colleges. A proposal of Rs 22 crore has been submitted before the government to sanction a separate ‘Pariksha Bhavan,’ and will  pursue  the matter with the chief minister.

  MLC Ivan said that for the first time a total of 34 foreign students are pursuing Ph.D at Mangalore University. There is a need to construct a hostel exclusively for foreign students  on the University campus. The university has been asked to submit a proposal to the government, in this regard. A proposal to sanction Rs 120 crore for developing roads in 12 wards in Mangalore city, too has been discussed with the CM, he said.

Briefing regarding  the amount spent under MLC fund, Ivan D’Souza said that he has spent Rs 45.84 lakh under Karnataka MLC Local Area Development Programme, during last three months. Rs 20 lakh has been distributed to 26 beneficiaries in the district under chief minister’s fund, he said.  Several current issues were talked about informally.
