Electric shock causes woman’s death at Kateel

Mulki,  June 04, 2014:  Reports state a woman was electrocuted when she came in contact with a live wire, at Kodethoor near Kateel on June 3.  The police indicated, the deceased is Shobha Shetty (59), wife of Sundara Shetty, a resident of Kodethoor Nadugodu. The incident occurred when she was on way to paddy field.   She is from a poor background as her husband too is paralysed.

The villagers said  the incident was caused  by the negligence of the MESCOM,  even though demands were made to replace the wire that passes near the house of Shobha.  MESCOM ignored the many requests.   Mescom station officer Eliyas now says  he will  report to the Surathkal division assistant engineer shortly.  Zilla Panchayat Member Ishwar Kateel, Mennabettu Gram Panchayat President Janardhan Kelenjoor visited the spot and urged  MESCOM to pay compensation for the loss of life to the next of kin.
